Wormwood is a perennial shrub native to temperate regions of Europe and North Africa. Traditionally, the leaves have been used to support digestive health. Wormwood contains natural compounds such as sesquiterpene lactones, volatile oils, phenolic acids, and tannins. These bitter constituents may help promote healthy digestion by supporting the secretion of digestive enzymes and encouraging appetite. Wormwood has also been used historically as a natural insect repellent.
